Life Lesson 101…Stay Humble

Humble

In the world we live in today

it’s a very pop culture centric place

a lot of things and life itself circle around media and “celebrity”

and I’m no exception

I fangirl with the rest of the world over artists I love

I tweet

I facebook

I instagram

it’s part of the generation we live in, I guess

social media has in some sense taken over the world

and you are somehow thought of as “weird” or “not with the times” if you don’t have all these different portals that which just keep from allowing face to face communication

“Weird” that word makes me laugh, I love it! I love being weird. I think normal just lumps you in with the rest of the world

I can’t sit here and be hypocritical though, I mean I have this blog which I am writing on my computer as we speak

So I understand the ways of communication have changed

But I just felt myself slipping away into a place where I’ve become more concerned about the lives of celebrities then my own

Because of this space we live in

and it’s a superficial culture at that

Don’t get me wrong

I’m guilty of it too

“Miley Cyrus is a slut”

“Ryan Gosling is a hot piece”

“Jay z this…

Beyonce that”

blah blah blah…

I’ve fallen into that realm of thinking often

That’s pop culture for ya

it surrounds you in every way, everyday

and I don’t think it’s wrong to partake in pop culture

especially if you enjoy it

if you enjoy an artist’s music

or admire someone’s sense of style

but it also isn’t cool to forget who you are

and what your values are

and what should be valued in life which is the character of a person

and their ability to remain humble in the face of glory and fame.

In a world where celebrity is all that counts

and money and fame are sought after

Remember there was a time where family and brotherhood/sisterhood mattered most

Remember where you come from

Remember who molded you

Remember when the “stage” was shared

and others cheered you on

be not afraid to be grateful

Because arrogance isn’t sexy

Neither is being cocky

There’s a certain level on confidence I suppose an entertainer should embody

But the line between confidence and cockiness can easily blur

and you need to check that

and reevaluate

Some are just easily more accepted

and carry a certain creative gift

But others were there when that gift wasn’t always instantly appreciated

A time when you had to prove yourself to the world

But fame and friends in high places have changed your views

and you’ve forgotten were you started

It’s sad don’t you see

How humble you used to be

Only Humble now is a vacant word

and it feels as though acting is getting easier

and You’ve been easily playing me

Celebrities want attention

they want fame

and just because you are granted that

doesn’t give you the right to belittle others

especially others who paved your way

Because fame can fade as quick as it comes

and friends and family may not always be forgiving

Fans are people too

and they need to be heard and understood

Just as much as you do

Your silence speaks louder than your words

and it’s easy to read between the lines

it’s a shame humble has been given new fake meaning

or was it always this way

and we just never saw it

blind to the facade in front of us

and overcome by the charm you threw out into the universe

be creative but be kind

and keep it humble

because no one likes a cocky bastard…

you know its strange by no means am I a Kanye West fan, but he gets so much shit for being cocky and conceded (much like the tons of rappers out there who act the same way). But at least he doesn’t fake being humble. He’s a cocky asshole and we all know it and he knows it. So at the end of the day you can’t really totally blame him (I mean you can, but you know what I mean). I just feel like there are certain celebrities and I won’t mention specific names (let’s just say I’ve recently dedicated a very large post to his lack of respect toward a certain group of friends) but I am still a fan of his work and am trying to just put all that crap behind me. But I just feel like if you come off as this humble, funny, caring guy and the world loves you. And talk show hosts like Ellen DeGeneres and Jimmy Fallon who you know for a fact are sweet people (because their line of work allows their true personality to shine through)  love you and rave about you, you think they are good wholesome people. But when humble becomes an act there is a problem , and I don’t know about you guys but I think it’s a problem that needs addressing. Because I’d rather not waste my time being a huge fan of someone who isn’t truly appreciative of those around them. Because at the end of the day it’s about admiring a person’s character, I think that’s what I need to start idolizing, or maybe not idolize as much as respect or admire. Sure I thought I “idolized” certain celebrities because of their talent or their sense of fashion, but all of that becomes superficial and irrelevant if you find out they aren’t who they claim or seem to be. Or if you just simply find out, they aren’t good people. So my advice to you, admire and respect the people who share the beauty of their heart with you. They are the true beautiful souls, they are the ones who deserve the awards.  I think that’s what I’m going to start doing, not necessarily idolizing anyone, but respecting them for their character and admiring them for who they are as a person with a caring heart. And I understand celebrities are people too and just like us they have good days and bad days, and they aren’t always perfect. I mean it isn’t their job to live a life to please us. But I just can’t understand how you expect a fans respect if your intentions don’t always appear genuine. Enough of this artificial fame bull crap. I’m over it! I will always remain a fan of a person’s craft, but I need to stop the idolizing and stop putting them at a higher standard then they deserve to be. I need to just enjoy their craft for what it is, which is good music to listen to. That’s the thing about celebrities, they get caught up and don’t realize their fans are people just like them. It’s frustrating because they get to say what they want and feel while fans have to try and throw vibes out there into the universe that never get picked up or responded to. And I don’t know about you guys but I don’t like to be ignored. I have a brain and I have thoughts that matter just like the rest of the fans or artists out there.  And I’m not talking about celebrities ignoring fans via social media, I mean out of billions of followers on twitter and busy schedules, I don’t expect a tweet back.  But I just feel like when they have a certain level of power and by power I mean influence due to their social status, I think they ignore the chance to speak out accordingly through the available forums they have access to. For instance, don’t ignore fans concerns, address them publicly instead of playing coy and sidestepping the issue. And at the end of the day we are all people, and God created us in the same way; equally, and no one is better then the next, your shit stinks just like the rest of us. (Sorry that was my Brooklyn showing, what up?)

P.S. Just as a side note this goes for all celebrities not just the ones I mentioned or danced around mentioning…see fans can be coy too  😉

DIY Fringe Top

I have been dying to post this but, I actually made this shirt to attend a superhero themed surprise birthday party my brother’s girlfriend was throwing him. And I didn’t want post this before the party and blow the surprise, so I’ve been waiting! (Mind you he’s 27, but who says you can’t be a big kid, and still love superheros right!) lol. Any way I wanted to be festive and wear a superhero tee, but I also wanted to spruce it up and make it more me…

So I found this justice league super hero graphic tee in Kohl’s for $10, I knew I wanted to try this fringe top idea out, so I bought a men’s tee (which was inexpensive) … I got the size large because it fit nice, but still not too big, but just enough to have room to work with and have it fit like a real shirt once I finished my fringing 😉 However if you want more of a loose fitted fringe crop top vibe, I advise getting the bigger size.

DSCF2354

Definitely try the shirt on first before any cutting, in order to judge what you want to do, and how you want to do it

About to make the first cut…the collar

And now the back collar

Repeat cut on left sleeve

Onto the bottom hem…

Fringe Time…

DSCF2366

I basically cut the fringes the width of my thumb as I moved it to cut each piece, that was my measurement in a way… Just don’t make them too thick, or too thin…but even if you mess up it’s supposed be a rustic type of shirt so nothing needs to be perfect

DSCF2368

After every major length adjustment, it’s best to try your shirt on, to judge it’s progress

DSCF2373

Cutting the full sleeve off…

DSCF2372

All you need are some scissors…and it’s a whole new shirt!

Before…

DSCF2371

After…. now you can leave a shorter sleeve or you can cut the sleeves off completely, depends of your style preference, I opted for the sleeveless 😀

Final Fringe Top

This fringe top idea is just a really great and easy way to spruce up a fun graphic tee. It is quite the process, but very manageable for anyone who knows how to hold a scissor!  However, you only get one shot to make those major cuts…so work steadily and be mindful! Fortunately I was happy with my final result, (and got a lot of compliments) but there was definitely a few bumps in the road. For instance when cutting off the collar cut along the seem. Do NOT cut the actual seem, because then it begins to fray and it’s just messy. And you end up having to cut off more. Also when making the fringe cuts try to pay attention to how far you extend them (at the top) …I realized later on that I started off high and then just got decreasingly lower lol, so it looked like a slant. But if that happens to you, it’s really simple to fix just extend the top fringe cuts to match the rest.  Enjoy! And I recently bought this really cool “wolves howling at the moon” Indian vibe type shirt from a recent street feast, and I bought it big, so I’m thinking of crop topping it, or fringing it. I haven’t decided yet but I’ll let you know how it comes out!

1233460_10100972722473437_1320417462_n

Just a pic of me rockin’ my fringe top at the party, and twinning w/ my bestie, see shirts can be rocked differently! Try it yourself!

p.s. sorry for the crappy quality of my photos I need to get on buying a new camera, one of these days!

Not Back to School Blues

images

Usually around this time I’d be singing the end of summer blues… because school would be just around the corner, and in a matter of weeks I’d be thrust into the same old school routine. Soon enough I’d be checking my schedule, double checking my classes, wondering who I’d have classes with, wondering how the professors I didn’t know would teach…mom and I would go shopping for a few new fall outfits…and although it was always bittersweet going back once the first week was under my belt it would feel pretty normal. And before I knew it it’d be Christmas break. That first semester always flew by, something that at the time I was grateful for.  notepad calculator ruler pens pencil staplerI’m the type of kid who liked to get the new school supplies, a new notebook and folder, I would look at the start of the school year as a new beginning. But now as I look ahead, slapped in the face by all the “Back to School” commercials, and school supply filled store aisles, I feel a sense of sadness. That bittersweet feeling is back, but it’s different. Because this time there’s nothing to go back to, I’m done…no more school. Guess I’ll have to trade in my new books and school clothes for resume updates and interview appropriate clothes shopping. It’s not as though I wish I was going back to sit in a classroom and listen to someone speak for 3 hours, (definitely won’t be missing the studying for midterms and finals) but it’s more of a matter of missing the familiarity of it. I’m gonna miss that feeling of home, where the professors knew me and valued my abilities and ideas. It’s a weird feeling, and I think that I may feel differently once I get a job doing something I’mmemes_college_books_y_u_cost_life_savings-s500x375-223186 passionate about, but for now there’s just this. It’s strange all those years going to school day after day, year after year, and always waiting and wishing for the moment that it would all just end. That last semester of college…I could not wait for the summer…graduation was a blessing (the concept, not the actual long ass ceremony) but after it ended I don’t think it truly hit me. I thought it had, but I think I was wrong, maybe it still hasn’t even hit me. I’ve always thought “When I’m older I’ll understand,” “When I’m older I’ll be better.” And now that I am older, and even considered an adult, I feel as though I just don’t know how to handle it. Once September comes, I think that’s when I’m really gonna feel it. No more school supplies, no more hunting down the cheapest textbooks, no more dealing with annoying financial aid office crap…but there is one thing that still remains….LOANS! Oh the joys of being a college graduate…I guess to get myself out of these Not Back to School Blues, I’ll just have to stay busy, and focus on the positive…my goddaughter’s first of many will be coming up….everything this year will be new to her, and I can’t wait to watch her grow! And last but not least…The Job Hunt will be fierce…who’s hiring? I’ll write my ass off! God Speed my fellow blues singers… and if you are going back to school…. make the most of every second, and learn every life lesson you can, because when it’s over you’ll miss it!

I’m gonna leave you with this speech Ashton Kutcher made at this year’s TCA’s… it was actually really inspirational and I thought it was really well said and a well crafted message to teens everywhere (and adults!)

Remember kids always be “Sexy!”

And “Everything around us that we call life was made up by people that are no smarter than you,

and you can build your own things…so build a life don’t live one, build one.”

Slowly Recovering…

Ok…Deep breath in…now Exhale…Now it’s two days later and all my tears have dried…but even still this “Reunion” has been “Tearin’ up my heart” (and not in a good way). I needed a day to process and I’m still confused and sad. I was so excited for the reunion…and we all know just what reunion I’m referring to, yes the highly anticipated *NSYNC reunion at this year’s 2013 Vmas. And that’s *NSYNC as in JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and Justin Timberlake. Yea that’s FIVE guys, not just one.2013 MTV Video Music Awards - Backstage

wpid-IMG_20130825_204608.jpg

My viewing party…my cupcakes said Happy *NSYNC DAY, and one specific cupcake said Go J.T. (to show my support) clearly I’m a dork! #judgeme

But as I geared myself up, into an *NSYNC frenzy and prepped myself by watching old DVDs and listening to my *NSYNC playlist on repeat, it would appear that my worst fear came true. The fear that this so called “reunion” was short lived.

I think a part of me deep down knew this would happen, especially when you get your hopes up so high and all you expected to happen… well doesn’t. And you’re left feeling sad and empty, and almost disrespected as a fan.

Let me clarify before I dive in any further…I did not dislike the performance. It was brilliant in its own right. Justin basically put on a mini concert at the Vmas and normally I would bow down to his greatness. (Despite the terrible sound system at Barclays and sloppy camera work…the performance rolled on through.)

He did tweet how this was an unforgetable night for him and thanked MTV for the honor

He did tweet how this was an unforgettable night for him and thanked MTV for the honor

As a major Justin fan, I have always defended him in everything he’s ever done, because I think he’s brilliant.

But I have to say that if he had plans to include the boys in his big night as the recipient for the coveted Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, I would have expected a massive reunion, and not just the cheap 90 seconds we got. To me it was over before it started…blink and you missed it. He had a 15 minute slot, and yet he chose to sing almost every big solo song he’s ever had, and then just squeezed the boys in just to appease people’s expectations that he would acknowledge them.

Now I’ve never really seen Justin as a people pleaser, he does what he wants when he wants and when he feels he’s ready, (hence the reason he made us wait 7 years for this damn album, which is brilliant and counting of course) which in this business is admirable. But because of this I have been conditioned as his fan, to expect greatness from him, and when you bring back a boy band from the 90’s and the media hypes up a reunion…it is your job to honor that hype, honor the legacy you’ve left behind.

As an artist I feel like Justin had to know the insane response an *NSYNC reunion would get, and how billions of fans and media people would hype it up which of course would lead to the asking of a reunion tour. So why not deliver in a way that would make fans happy…fans that have followed you from day one.

Ever since *NSYNC’s breakup (due to Justin going solo) hopeful fans have been continuously shot down, when reunion questions would arise. I may be wrong but to the audience’s eye, it seems Justin Timberlake feels shamed by his past with the legendary boy band. Which honestly to me, doesn’t make much since. If it weren’t for *NSYNC he wouldn’t be the star studded JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE he is today. You have to start from somewhere.105_nsync_640

I’m a big believer in remembering where you come from and appreciating the people who got you where you need to be…I truly was excited for the *NSYNC reunion and I think the boys rocked it but JUSTIN had a 15 minute set, he could have given them more time…I love you J.T. but that was cold and now I’m just dealing with sadness as I know a lot of other fans are too. I would have liked a longer reunion but for the time they were given, each of them did their thing, and did it well, and needless to say I got my synchronized dance moves! And props to JC for his little “baby baby baby” run at the end, yea boy get yours! You still got it! However, the set list left much to be desired…with a fragment of “Gone,” a few bars of “Girlfriend” and in typical *NSYNC fashion “Bye Bye Bye” was their exit song.  The boys exited the stage the same way they entered, descending into the stage amongst the bright blinding lights. I thought at first the boys were going to stay and perform “Suit & Tie” with him, but no such luck. To me it just seemed like a snub, like a “Well I’d be painfully degraded by the world if I don’t at least acknowledge them…so here’s 90 seconds.” I just feel like if it was just going to be a quick snip it, or a snippet if you will, then why do it at all? Why get the world so amped up and ready for a “Reunion” something hardcore fans like myself have been waiting for, for over a decade!

Did you see my girls fangirling... super cute!

Did you see my girls fangirling… super cute!

I feel like I would have been happier if Justin either did it all the way, and gave them the time they deserved or just acknowledged them in speech and just kept it a solo set. Because truthfully it just hurt to see *NSYNC not get the time they deserved. However I will not knock the Justin set completely because it was amazing and his solo music is something to be honored and rightfully so. There were beautiful moments that I loved, I loved the Rapper’s Delight throwback dance break, and the Jackson 5 meets MJ inspired back beats. I loved the little senorita audience sing along, and 130826-Justin-Timberlake-VMAsthe “Cry Me a River” performance that made us all understand why Justin Timberlake is the sole creator of the world’s greatest break-up anthem, as the crowd’s arms were up in the air. The Justin solo set was a medley of amazingness, but half of that show stopping performance should have included *NSYNC and a larger medley of their hit songs. (what happened to the oldies…”I want you back,” “Tearin up my heart” “This I promise you” “It’s gonna be me” “POP!” ) Like are you kidding me!???

Like Justin said half the moonmen he’s won were when he was with *NSYNC.5356777-Justin-Timberlake-and-Sync-to-Reunite-at Granted maybe I’m being too hard on him, he did thank them (sloppy camera work seriously they didn’t even pan over to them during his speech!) and word on the street is he did call and ask them to be apart of this. But there were just little things that just made me feel like Justin wasn’t as happy to reunite with his former boy band as his former band-mates were to reunite with him. Each member tweeted thank yous to their dedicated fans for the kind responses to their *NSYNC performance…except Justin. Also the guys tweeted each other (including Timberlake) to say how great it was to be back together again. In fact aside from a quick pic post on his Facebook page, he hasn’t mentioned it since. And that picture I’m referring to…1234460_10151618796847098_997616228_n

Seriously, he’s covering his face, like I don’t know about you guys, maybe I’m reading too much into things, but all the guys are joking and goofing around and his body language basically says “Oh I’m not here.” I will never understand if he truly is ashamed of being apart of the boy band. I get it your doing your own thing now but it’s not like *NSYNC should ever be ashamed of their success, nor should Justin be ashamed to have been a part of it. Granted maybe the cornrows and crazy curly hair and leather outfits were a bit too much. But that was the 90’s! And that’s how things were, it’s not to be disappointed in, it’s to be remembered and joked about.

You know they could have said no, but they did it to honor him and his success as a solo artist, which is why those boys are a true class act. Can I just say when *NSYNC came off stage and each of them did their little wave to the camera, I fell in love all over again. I miss them…2001 MTV Video Music Awards - Show

I took to twitter to hash out all my aggression, basically tweeting away my feelings. I am wayyy to emotional over this “reunion.” But I’m not the only one! Glad to know there are other fan girls out there feeling similar to how I feel. I feel like we’ve been waiting for *NSYNC to make a comeback for so long, especially since it’s the resurrection of the boy band error, what with Backstreet Boys, New Kids on the Block, 98 Degrees, and even Boys II Men reuniting and touring. (Clearly I have A LOT of feelings about this reunion!) I think everyone just put all their faith in this VMA reunion. And we secretly hoped for more, hoped that maybe it would lead to new music and maybe even a tour. I thought it unlikely, but I always secretly hoped. But when the boys took the stage Justin repeatedly said “Last One,” like as in last time *NSYNC will ever be *NSYNC? To me that’s what he was saying.

Never the less there are ways to be a “boy” band and still be grown men, it doesn’t have to be cheesy, BSrs82GCUAI8bu4hell those tuxes were sharp, synchronized dance moves are the shit… and those boys still got it! *NSYNC reminds me of my childhood. It reminds me of a time where I didn’t know of stress or anxiety, it was a simpler time. I feel like now with college officially over and me trying to find my next move, I’ve been searching for a way to turn back time. To a time where everything was easy and everything was safe.

I was about 8 when I got their first album. About 10 when I got to see them in concert. The “No Strings Attached” Tour was my first concert ever. And I was probably about 11 or 12 when they started to wrap their last album and ended their run due to Justin going solo. Mind you I thought “Justified” was supposed to just be like a side project and that *NSYNC would be back…but yea that didn’t go as planned…hey when you’re that successful solo who needs 4 other guys taking away the spotlight huh Justin? I’m sorry that was a bit uncalled for, but I guess I’m still working through the pain.

I think it’s safe to say, when the *NSYNC VMA reunion rumors began to swirl fan girls everywhere were searching for that nostalgic presence. Especially when Lance Bass tweeted *NSYNC had their own official twitter account. 577773_10201491555671982_1536009585_nAfter that tweet (if not before) I think we all thought “it’s on! This is happening.” Fans knew, and even though denies were made by Joey Fatone and even Lance Bass himself, it was all part of what was meant to be a surprise. Surely this “reunion” was the worst kept secret!

Once again…I’m not saying *NSYNC and Justin’s performance weren’t amazing, they definitely were, but I just felt like Justin jipped them, it just hurts my heart and I can’t handle it! As long as *NSYNC feels they were honored properly I guess I can forgive Justin, or at least start to, I guess I just miss them. And granted Justin was always a favorite, but they were just a packaged deal, they were beloved and always will be! They each brought their own talent to the group, and fit so well.ABC_nsync_jef_130825_16x9_992

45717_1573211691404_5020058_nI swear anyone who reads this or who has read my twitter for the past two days must think I am a complete psycho (and maybe I am) or must think I hate Justin Timberlake, lol (and I really don’t, I’m actually insanely in love with him). 1150959_10201478198818069_440676695_nBut that love affair started with *NSYNC first so I’m just a little pissed at him at the moment, and he and I are gonna need a break, I need my space haha… no but seriously. 😉 I feel as though because I’m such a hardcore dedicated fan, I have the right to my opinions, lol. But at least the boys had good things to say about being a part of Justin’s moment, and how being back together feels like nothings changed, although we know so much has… :/ (way to exclude them from your wedding guest list bro). As for any reunion rumors I highly doubt it will ever happen again. Because, upon my twitter scanning of article upon article displaying each members views on the possibility once again most of the boys seemed down for it; Joey reportedly saying “Let’s go on tour now!” Chris “I’m not saying it’s never going to happen,” and Lance saying “it would be lovely, but we have no plans.” The only definite no’s would be JC who shot the idea down quickly revealing this was all in support of Justin’s big night, and clearly judging my Justin’s continuous actions he doesn’t ever seem interested in the idea as a full frontal/ long lasting commitment  to the group that paved the way to his solo success. Don’t bite the hand that “fed” you my friend.

I don’t know maybe I’ll fully be able to forgive him once 2020 Vol. 2 serenades me with its greatness. But who knows maybe one day another 10 years (you know when I’m 32 and the guys are in their late 40’s/early 50’s) from now Justin will come to his senses. As for now I’m not holding my breath for any future reunions, but I look forward to what the future holds for each member of the greatest boy band of all time; *NSYNC.

Baby NSYNC <3

As per usual even in anger I’m still a Justin supporter so…pre-order Vol. 2 now on iTunes, The 20/20 Experience Vol. 2 is out September 30th, with songs featuring Drake and Jay-Z, and Target Special Edition including two extra bonus tracks “Blindness” and “Electric Lady.”justin-timberlake-2020-exprience-double-edition-album-art

Also… congrats on your wins, Justin racked up 3 out of 6 wins…

(p.s. where was the wife during J.T.’s big night? Thankfully they were seen at an after party together, so hopefully she was backstage. But even so shouldn’t she have been there to support her man? I mean get over it the world knows your married, act like it!)

Best editing; mirrors

Best direction;  suit and tie

Video of the year; mirrors

(The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award… puts him at 4… he definitely stole the show,

and weather or not we agree on his intentions toward the *NSYNC guys I will always be proud of his accomplishments)

And quick side note, the fact that Jimmy Fallon presented him with the award was pretty amazing and just perfect, they are such good friends and his speech was as adorable as he is! Love you Jimmy!

bilde

One Direction Fans brace yourselves…every boy band comes to an end…

One day this will be you, lol

So my advice to you, Enjoy it while it lasts, and fan girl as hard as you can!

Forever a Fan

And once again the sole purpose of this blog post was to show case a true fan’s true perspective.  I do not ignore Justin’s ode to the boys nor to I not understand the fact that he did include them in his speech. I just feel that it was a bit forced and lacked genuine intentions, and that, had the 15 minute time slot been used more wisely, it would have made for a more suitable reunion.

(I do not take credit for any images of *NSYNC or of Justin, etc.)

Tea Talk…

20130307_165301Introducing a new segment entitled “Tea Talk”.… it’s going to be implemented well, when I feel a pressing manner (regarding the progress of this blog) coming up and need to speak on it…

With that being said,  Just had a cup of tea, and need to talk…Just a writer’s thought about writing…

So with just a few more then 100 posts under my belt I still feel like I’m a blogging newbie. I haven’t gotten much feedback and I suppose that’s my fault because I don’t like to force my work upon people. I’m painfully bad at self promotion. I do however go check the traffic on my page here and there and I know I have a few readers but I never hear back from you so I don’t know if I’m doing a decent job, lol. Then again maybe my interests aren’t your cup of tea…haha pun intended! Either way for those who do keep up with me I thank you. I also ask for  your feedback. I tend to be a little all over the place when I blog and I enjoy it that way because I don’t really like having a one track mind. I love to write the more serious writer type stuff…like the poems you see on my page. Those give me such inspiration but I also love pop culture, fashion, tv, movies, music etc. My interests are vast so forgive me if I tend to switch gears every once in a while. I just feel like its more interesting that way  at least for me…as a creative mind, …when a blog only has one topic I find its difficult to keep on that track. I did that for a class of mine my last semester of college and it just became boring and so mundane. And if there’s anything that puts you in a rut it is a mundane routine. It’s seriously just asking for writer’s block! So I’m gonna mix it up more, because this blog is personal and I’m sharing my interests with you. I also need to explain that my poems aren’t always easy for me to write…there are days I can write 4 in a tea_partyday and then there are days where I just completely lack inspiration or just hate everything I’ve written. I may not know where this blog is going but I do know that it is a learning experience for me and I’m putting things out there that aren’t always easy for me to say. I’ve never really thought of myself as a “wears her heart on her sleeve” type of girl because I tend to be shy at times and often very private. But as I grow older I realize my heart is there on my sleeve and you can read it loud and clear if you look close enough. Compassion is something I think my heart is driven by and I think because of that it allows me to play certain roles when I write. Not everything I right is necessarily from personal experience but it’s a matter of diving into that mindset of someone who has gone through whatever it is I’m writing about, and writing for them, writing what maybe they cant say. I may not always get it right and my celebrity fluff pieces may throw you off track a little bit, but when I have something important to say I’ll say it, a writer can’t always spill their guts out to complete strangers 24/7…or maybe they can, I just choose not to. I think part of being a writer is embracing the different emotions of life, writing doesn’t always have to be so serious and dramatic, it can be fun, it can be simple. That’s why I love writing my celebrity fluff pieces, it reminds me of  writing for a magazine or something, it’s fun…so sue me! lol. Regardless of the content, whether it be heartfelt poetry or simple pop culture, hopefully those who can understand and relate…listen. This blog has become my best friend, it’s like a diary I know I can look back on and be proud of, because I took a risk. Anyway here’s to mixing it up and I hope those who do read along stick with me and those who don’t… tag along…I promise to write with a pure heart after all this is “a safe place for the written word.” And it’s important to remember that compassion is key, you never know what someone may be dealing with, you never know what their story is, so be mindful not to jump to conclusions. Be kind and considerate of those other hearts worn upon sleeves, because even though they may be willing to be an open book, they aren’t to be nor should they be walked all over. You are how you treat people, if you are kind, that makes you a kind person, if you are not maybe you need to reevaluate. If anything out of 3 semesters of philosophy stuck it is the concept of the Golden Rule- “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”.. . in other words treat others how you’d like to be treated…in all of life’s lessons and all of life’s hardships that is the easiest thing to understand and the easiest to do.

…just a few thoughts I had to get out there…

always be compassionate. always be kind. always be creative. always tea & talk. 😉

My Top Fall Fashion “Must Haves”

As August is winding down, I’ve found myself in this rut. Lately I’m just out of it and tired and irritable, so I’m just not feeling summer anymore. Personally I LOVE the fall. That crisp breeze, the crunchy leaves, TV show premieres, Halloween & Thanksgiving,  Vanilla Chai lattes from Dunkin Donuts, Uggs, scarves, boots, the list is endless! Fall fashion is way more fun to play with then summer fashion. I feel like summer is just too hot to try and be fashionable. And although I’ve tried this summer, at the end of the day I always end up in some sort of inner wear (not made for the outdoors) and a big bun that could be mistaken for a beehive! So yea to say I’m excited for fall is an understatement… fall fashion here I come!!!

My Fall Must Haves

My #1 has to be Uggs, I have been itching to rock those babies again! They are like walkin’ on a cloud!

My #2 Knit Scarves… back in the fall and winter of last year, I LIVED in scarves, I swear I have like 15 scarves (the pashmina kind, and a knit one or two), one to go with every outfit! To me they just complete a fall fashion look…I’m definitely looking to get more of these eternity type of scarves, so cozy!

My #3 Knit Over-sized Sweater; cozy and comfy for those semi chilly days and paired with leggings, well there’s your outfit! Stylish and not too out of the way to put together! Bummy yet still pulled together…what an oxymoron 😉

My #4 Moccasin Booties, I have been DYING for a pair of these! Omg paired with a cute pair or denim or black skinny jeans! AHHH love it!

My #5 A leather jacket… Demi Lovato is notorious for rocking a leather jacket with anything and everything (and we all know how obsessed I am with Demi Lovato.) I LOVE how she pairs it with cute printed dresses, it gives it a classy edge! Bad-ass yet girly! I’ve been looking for the perfect one…

My #7 A men’s Flannel Shirt…I have been DYING for one, I think they give a girl a sort of outdoor cabin/camping vibe and I love it…too bad the last one I owned became part of my #ZombieGirl costume last Halloween… definitely need to get a new one!

My #13 Leather Back Pack, I tend to carry my life in my purse so something like this would be perfect to rock as my purse this fall, and its a neutral color… very practical!
